We’re delighted to launch our brand new online Fife Film Directory!
Over the years, there have been a number of fantastic film productions from Fife filmmakers: features, shorts, documentaries, web series, and so much more. However, to the best of our knowledge, these have never been listed or categorised.
As such, trying to find out about local film talents has often been dependent on word of mouth, which can create the false impression that few films have been made here.
This couldn’t be further from the truth, and we hope this directory helps to dispel that myth.
The directory we have now is only the tip of the iceberg. We want to develop this over time, celebrating the breadth of talent that lives here and inspiring new filmmakers to develop their craft and tell their own stories.
Our initial archive has been compiled by Gavin Hugh of MidgieBite Media, with help from Niki Paterson who developed the new archive section for our website. While the information listed in the directory is already within the public domain, this is – as far as we know – the first time an attempt has been made to create a comprehensive list.
At present, the initial directory features 21 films from over the last decade. We intend to grow this over time, and would gladly welcome the support of volunteers to help with this project. If anyone would wish to submit their own films for inclusion, we’d also love to hear from you. Please get in touch through the contact form on our website.
As well as the new directory, the website design has seen a refresh – with the addition of a new ‘Resources’ page for local filmmakers to access further support and opportunities. Again, it is hoped that this we will continue to develop this over time.
